It’s been now 12 years since the launch of PlayStation Plus. Sony has now revealed the next innovation for the subscription service in order to compete with the very popular Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The new subscription model will bring up to 700 games ready to download or stream at launch, but if all of that is a bit overwhelming for you, you can keep using the PlayStation Plus that you have now for the same price called now PlayStation Plus Essential.

Sony has this to say.

Today, we are pleased to share with you official news about changes coming to our subscription services. This June, we’re bringing together PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now in an all-new PlayStation Plus subscription service that provides more choice to customers across three membership tiers globally. Our focus is on providing high-quality, curated content with a diverse portfolio of games.
