Activision-Blizzard Entertainment’s latest free-to-play (mobile) video game Diablo Immortal will be unavailable to download for gamers in the Netherlands and Belgium.
As reported by Ars Technica, the game will not be available for the two European countries due to conflicting laws and regulations that classify loot boxes as illegal gambling. This law was introduced back in early 2018 when EA made the same mistakes with Star Wars Battlefront 2’s loot crate system.
“Diablo Immortal will not be available in Belgium or the Netherlands, and will not appear on Battle.net or the Belgian and Netherlands App or Google Play Stores,” said a spokesperson for Activision Blizzard in an interview with Eurogamer. “This is related to the current operating environment for games in those countries. Accordingly, pre-registrations for the game are not accessible in those markets.”
