Drummer Taylor Hawkins of the American rock band Foo Fighters has passed away while touring in Bogota, Colombia at the age of 50. The group announced the loss of their bandmate on Twitter.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins, His musical soul, and infectious laugh will always live on in us,” the band said earlier.”

His death is still under investigation, but traces of many different substances, including THC (the active ingredient in marijuana), painkillers, and antidepressants, have been found in the body of drummer Taylor Hawkins of the American rock band Foo Fighters. Colombian researchers announced this on Saturday. It is not reported whether the substances found led to his death.

His sudden death also send shockwaves all around the music world with celebrities like Slash, Miley Cyrus taking to Twitter to express their disbelief. Elton John also pays tribute at a concert by dedicating the song “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” to the late drummer and saying

“I got up this morning to see that Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters had passed away, and I was so shocked because he played on my Lockdown Sessions album and he was one of the nicest people you could ever meet,” John told the crowd.

“And one of the greatest drummers and a true musician who loved all sorts of music and loved life. And it seems so sad that at 50 years of age we’ve lost someone who had that much passion. And it makes me so downhearted for his family – his three children, his wife, his other relatives and, of course, the Foo Fighters, who’ve lost a dearest loved one that can never, ever be replaced.”
